On the afternoon of July 19th, a signing ceremony, between Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and Dalian Medical University (DMU), was successfully held for the collaborative construction of Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages  (referred to as MTCSOL)’s Internship Base. Professor Duan Yuping, Dean of the School of International Education at DUT, and Professor Lu Wei, Dean of the School of International Education at DMU attended the signing ceremony with relevant academic directors and staff from both sides.

During the ceremony, Dean Duan Yuping introduced the current development status of DUT's School of International Education, mentioned the internship needs of students in MTCSOL program, and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the strong support given by the School of International Education at DMU during the cooperative establishment of the Internship Base. For the DMU side, Dean Lu Wei gave a brief introduction for the characteristics of international student cultivation, the needs of international students in learning Chinese, and the construction of alumni association. Apart from this, several issues relating to the construction of the MTCSOL Internship Base, the education and management as well as degree enrollment of international students were deeply discussed by both parties. Finally, two institutions reached a consensus on the collaborative construction model of the internship base and signed a cooperative agreement.

Educational practice is a crucial part of the cultivation of MTCSOL students. DUT has always attached great importance to it in order to cultivate international Chinese language teachers who can adapt to the developmental needs of the new era, possess proficient teaching skills in Chinese as a second language, and exhibit excellent abilities in promoting Chinese culture and engaging in cross-cultural communication. Currently, three-tier education practice system, observation-internship-cultural practice, has established as a standardized and comprehensive system in DUT. Up to now, the collaborative construction of the MTCSOL Internship Base is an important move to further enhance the quality of MTCSOL student cultivation and improve their professional practical abilities.

In the future, the School of International Education at DUT will consistently hold the vision, quality first, international perspective, mutual benefit and Sino-foreign exchange, on educational and cooperative philosophy. We will persistently engage in domestic and international cooperation in talent cultivation, faculty team construction, teaching and research, and exchanges between Chinese and international students. It is our responsibility to combine the brand construction of the "Study at DUT" with the cultivation of MTCSOL talents under the "Studying at DUT" initiative to construct a distinctive international Chinese language education system and development path with DUT features.
