On September 7th, the opening ceremony for international freshmen in the 2023 autumn semester of our school was successfully held in the lecture hall of the Bochuan Library. Assistant President Lu Anhui, the leadership team of the School of International Education, and teacher representatives attended the ceremony together with over 300 international freshmen from 50 countries.
The opening ceremony started with the song and dance series "Youth Dance: Silk Road Love" and the welcome video jointly brought by the representatives of the freshmen and the students on campus. Assistant President Lu Anhui first delivered a welcome speech, representing all the faculty and staff of Dalian University of Technology, as well as alumni from home and abroad, to warmly welcome international freshmen from around the world. Using what we have learned to build a bridge for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, and making due contributions to promoting the connection of people's hearts and the inclusiveness and mutual learning of diverse civilizations around the world。
Duan Yuping, the Dean of the International School of Education, emphasized the development and advantages of the college to international students, and put forward three expectations for international students: first, to study diligently, courageously pursue dreams, and shoulder the heavy responsibility of their respective countries' prosperity. Secondly, international students should cherish the opportunity to study abroad in China, abide by Chinese laws and regulations as well as the school's rules and regulations, and be a positive and energetic young student and global citizen. The third is to perceive China, strengthen interaction and exchange, enhance mutual understanding, and serve as a friendly ambassador and cooperation bridge with China.
Zhang Wei, the representative of the international student supervisor, warmly welcomed all the new students and expressed that they should strive to learn cutting-edge theoretical technologies, master professional knowledge, and continuously improve their learning methods; To continuously enhance creativity, lay a solid foundation for one's own development, and contribute to the knowledge base of humanity. Erida, a 2023 undergraduate student from Venezuela, gave a speech as a new student representative. She mentioned that Chinese culture is full of charm, and the friendliness of the Chinese people left a deep impression on her. She looks forward to meeting friends from all over the world, gaining friendship, and growing together. She hopes to read China attentively, learn more about Chinese culture, history, and technology, bring the Chinese model, solutions, and wisdom back to her own country, and promote the development of communities, cities, and regions.
Previously, in order to help 2023 international students and freshmen integrate and adapt to their lives in China and school as soon as possible, the School of International Education carefully planned a series of international freshman enrollment education activities, opening the "first lesson" for international students studying abroad.
On the afternoon of September 6th, a police officer from the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of Dalian Public Security Bureau, a comrade in charge of the school party committee's security department, a mental health consulting expert, a study abroad insurance project team, and representatives of teachers from the International Education College brought a series of entrance education to international students with themes such as laws and regulations in China, campus safety education, cross-cultural communication psychological guidance, study abroad insurance, academic guidance, scholarship management regulations, and campus life guidelines, Help new students understand and adapt to their community and school life.
