At 14:00 on December 20, 2019, the Belarus Research Center at Dalian University of Technology and the Commonwealth of Independent States Research Center of Dalian University of Technology jointly held the seminar on “Research on China and the Commonwealth of Independent States” and “Research on Belarus”. A total of 16 people including experts, scholars, and young students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Dalian University of Technology, the School of Foreign Languages of Dalian University of Technology, the Joint Institute of the Dalian University of Technology and Belarusian State University, and the School of International Education of Dalian University of Technology participated in the event. Hao Hai, the dean of the School of International Education, attended the seminar, which were hosted by Yang Liang, a member of the Belarus Research Center and Chinese teacher of the School of International Education.

Hao Hai, the head of the Center, said at the seminar that the Belarus Research Center and the Commonwealth of Independent States Research Center are the achievements in the integration of development strategies and deepening educational cooperation between China, Belarus, and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. On January 10th this year, the opening ceremony of “Belarus Education Year” hosted by our school is an important international exchange activity for China and Belarus to implement “the Belt and Road Initiative”, which is of milestone significance. In the future, the Center will aim to build a high-level economic, cultural, legal, and educational research-oriented think tank for Belarus and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, with a close integration of scientific research and national policies as the direction of work, in order to effectively serve China, Belarus, and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States with scientific research results.

Subsequently, Guo Shuhong, the director of the Center, made 2019 work report of the Center and 2020 work plan of the Center. Teacher Guo reviewed the fruitful achievements of the Belarus Research Center and the Commonwealth of Independent States Research Center over the past year, embodied in: the successful opening ceremony of the Belarus Education Year in our school, our school’s participation in various academic seminars by sending representatives to Belarus, and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, higher education exchanges of Belarusian State University to our university by sending representatives, exchange visits of the head of the Center to Eastern European countries, and the publication of various translation publications and collections of papers. The Center further promoted educational cooperation between Belarus, and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and China in 2020.

Then, Du Fang, Zhao Lijun, Zhang Xinyue, Sun Jia, and Yang Liang, the teachers from the School of International Education, and Qi Xiaokun, a teacher of the Graduate School of Education, respectively made speeches on language and culture teaching, talent training, economic development model, the development of the Confucius Institute and other topics. Liu Yigong, a professor of the Law Department of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Dalian University of Technology, introduced the changes in the constitutional system of Belarus, and pointed out that we need to provide more legal resources for the China-Belarus Industrial Park developed under the framework of “the Belt and Road Initiative”, so as to effectively avoid risks and realize mutual benefits between both parties.

The atmosphere of the seminar was enthusiastic, with active communications. The speakers reviewed the achievements, analyzed problems and provided suggestions, saying that the relationship between China and Belarus and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States has entered into a new stage of mutual trust and win-win cooperation, and the cooperation in various fields has reached a historic level. In this context, it is particularly important to accurately judge, analyze and grasp the development and bilateral cooperation between China and Belarus, and between China and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. We need to strengthen the research, give full play to the role as the think tank, carry out practical exchanges and cooperation, enhance mutual trust and friendship, and consolidate the social foundation of friendship between China and Belarus and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, so as to steadily promote the healthy, stable and in-depth development of friendly relations between China and Belarus and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

At the end of the seminar, the participants visited the photo exhibition of the Belarus Research Center, which showed the achievements of the educational cooperation between China and Belarus, and took a group photo in front of the exhibition.
